🌿 Our Approach to Sustainability

Good tools. Good food. A better future.

At Dexam, we believe the choices we make—at the table and behind the scenes—should be thoughtful, lasting, and kind to the world we live in.

Since 1957, we’ve taken pride in creating kitchenware designed to stand the test of time.

In many ways, sustainability has always been part of our DNA: choosing quality over quantity, investing in durable design, and helping people cook and live well, for the long haul.

Today, our commitment to sustainability runs deeper than ever.

Reduce

We’ve cut down on the amount of packaging used in our products. We’re also reducing our plastic volume by seeking alternatives.

For example, we use biodegradable and compostable Eco-Chips, made from GM free sustainable raw materials using a low energy process. They dissolve under running water or can be added to your compost heap to break down naturally.

We’ve also introduced compostable corn starch bags for some of our textiles and paper tape has replaced plastic tape.

We are consistently working with our factories on ways we can continue to minimise plastic packaging.

Reuse

We reuse packaging and cardboard when sending out goods to our customers. They may not look as pretty, but we’re saving the world one box at a time! They are also made from approximately 70% recycled material and are 100% recyclable.

As well as this, we make sure that all seconds, or items with faulty packaging, are donated to charity rather than heading straight to landfill. This ensures that they get a second life in a new home.

Recycle

Where it's not possible to eradicate plastic altogether, packaging protection must include a percentage of recycled materials.

Bubble wrap for our trade orders contains a minimum of 30% recycled material and a minimum of 50% for air cushions. Both are 100% recyclable.

All paper and card used must be from sustainable sources (FSC or PEFC).

We’re also committed to recycling any electrical equipment and sourcing an environmentally friendly way to recycle these items. To remind you that old electrical equipment can be recycled, it is now marked with a crossed-out wheeled bin symbol.

Please do not throw any electrical equipment (including those marked with the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol) in your bin.
