
Simple Apple Pie Recipe
Make the most of the apples in season and welcome Spring with a freshly baked Apple Pie.
This classic dessert, with its golden lattice crust and fragrant filling, is perfect for sunny afternoons and gatherings with loved ones. Using a Dexam lattice pastry cutter, makes the pie as beautiful as it is delicious.

Ingredients
For the Pastry Topping:
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 6-8 tablespoons ice water
For the Filling:
- 6 apples, rotary peeled and sliced with a Rotary Apple Peeler
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For Assembly:
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon milk
Instructions
Prepare the Pie Crust:
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, salt, and sugar.
- Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gradually add ice water, 1 tablespoon at a time, mixing until the dough just holds together.
- Divide the dough in half, shape into discs, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
Make the Apple Filling:
- In a large bowl, toss the peeled and sliced apples with sugar, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and vanilla.
- Let the mixture sit for 10 minutes while rolling out the dough.
Assemble the Pie:
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Pour the apple filling into your Benary Vegetables Tart Oven Dish, spreading evenly.
- Roll out your pastry topping and use a Lattice Pastry Cutter to create strips. Arrange them in a woven pattern over the apples. Trim and crimp the edges.
Bake the Pie:
- Whisk the egg and milk together, then brush over the lattice crust.
- Place the pie on a baking sheet and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the filling is bubbling.
- Let the pie cool for at least 2 hours before serving.
