Spiced Tomato Jam

A delicious, sweet and spicy tomato jam, we recommend smothering on top of toast. Perfect for those wanting to use their own harvest, this warm jam is perfect for novices wanting to perfect their skills.

Spiced Tomato Jam Dexam

  • Ingredients:
  • 2 large ripe tomatoes, cut into halves
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • ½ a teaspoon of sea salt
  • 4 red chillies
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 2 teaspoons of grated ginger
  • 2 tablespoons of soy sauce
  • 115g of brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons of white vinegar
  • Salt to season

Preparation method

  1. Start by preheating the oven to 200 degrees.
  2. Line a baking tray with a non-stick mat before placing the prepared tomatoes onto the mat, skin side down.
  3. Drizzle the tomatoes with olive oil and sprinkle with sea salt before placing into the oven to roast for an hour or until the tomatoes have turned soft.
  4. Remove from the oven and set aside.
  5. Place the now cooked tomatoes and the other ingredients into a blender (not the salt) and blend until smooth.
  6. Pour the blended ingredients into a small saucepan before placing onto a medium – high heat for around 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Season with salt before leaving to cool.
  7. Once cool, pour jam into jars.
