Spiced Apple Margarita
PREP TIME COOK TIME 10 minutes MAKES 1 Cocktail
  • 57ml of tequila
  • 57ml of apple juice or cider if you prefer
  • 21ml of fresh lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon of honey syrup
  • 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • Lime wedges
  • 1 anise star- optional

Preparation method

  1. Start by making the honey syrup. In a small saucepan, add the water and the honey and leave over a medium heat to simmer. Stirring the mixture, continue until the honey has dissolved into the water and remove the pan from the hob.
  2. Mix together ½ a teaspoon of ground cinnamon, the salt and the sugar. When the mixture has been blended, tip the mixture onto a small plate.
  3. Run a slice of lime around the rim of the glass you intend to use and with the glass place it into the mix so that the rim of the glass has a dusting of the cinnamon/sugar mixture.
  4. Fill the glass with ice.
  5. In a cocktail shaker, add ice and pour in the tequila, apple juice along with the lime juice, honey and cinnamon and shake. You will know when you have shaken enough as the whole of the outside of the cocktail shaker should be cold to touch.
  6. With a strainer, strain the liquid into your cocktail glass, adding an anise star to serve.
