Sangria Popsicles

Turn this Spanish classic into a fruity ice lolly on a hot summers day.

Sangria ice lolly

  • 340g of chopped mixed fruit
  • 180ml of red wine
  • 180ml of orange juice
  • 60ml of fresh lemon juice
  • 3 tablespoons of sugar

Preparation method

  1. In a small bowl, add the chopped fruit and pour the wine over the top and leave to rest for 15 minutes.
  2. Using a small saucepan over a medium heat, add the orange juice, lemon juice and sugar and leave for around 3 minutes, making sure to stir until all the sugar has dissolved. Once the sugar has dissolved, place the saucepan to the side to rest until it has reached room temperature.
  3. Using a strainer, pour the fruit and wine mixture through it, placing the fruit in a separate bowl to the side. Pour the liquid from the saucepan through the strainer afterwards.
  4. With the strained fruit, divide it equally in lolly moulds before pouring the liquid evenly over the top of the fruit and placing into the freezer to set, this should take around 5 hours.
