bourbon mint julep
PREP TIME 5 minutes MAKES 1
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar
  • 5ml of water
  • 8 fresh mint leaves
  • Crushed ice
  • 90ml of bourbon
  • Mint sprigs

Preparation method

  1. Take your chosen glass and add the teaspoon of sugar to the 5ml of water and stir until all the sugar has dissolved.
  2. Add the mint leaves and gently with the muddler, crush the leaves to release some of their natural flavours. When removing the muddler from the glass, quickly run the muddler around the inside rim of the glass to flavour it with the mint leaves.
  3. With the crushed ice, half fill the glass with it and pour the bourbon, making sure to stir to combine the bourbon and the ice.
  4. Fill the remaining space in the glass with the crushed ice before adding the mint sprigs.
  5. Serve the drink with a straw and enjoy.
