  • 250ml of water
  • 2 ½ tablespoons of caster sugar
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
  • 125g of plain flour
  • 2 litres of oil
  • 100g of caster sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon

Preparation method

  1. Using a small saucepan over a medium heat, add the water, salt, 2 ½ tablespoons of sugar and 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil before bringing to the boil. Once the pan has reached the boil, remove the pan from the heat and stir in the flour until a ball of dough has been created.
  2. In a frying pan or a wok, heat some oil, making sure that the oil is super-hot adding the dough. To check that the oil is super hot, you can conduct the chopstick test. By placing a chopstick into the oil, within a few seconds, you should hear the chopsticks hissing under the heat.
  3. Using a pastry bag, pace the dough into the bag and pipe strips of the dough into the pan. Leave the dough in the pan to fry until they have turned golden.
  4. Once the churros have turned golden, remove the churros from the pan and leave to drain on some kitchen paper.
  5. In a small mixing bowl, combine the 100g of caster sugar with the cinnamon before rolling the warm churros in the mixture.
