Homemade Sausage Roll

One simple recipe, create these delicious and portable sausage rolls following our easy recipe or substitute the sausage meat for homemade sausages.

Homemade Sausage Roll

  • 450g of sausage meat
  • 450g of puff pastry
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1 tablespoon of dried thyme
  • 1 tablespoon of tabasco
  • 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce

Preparation method

  1. Start your homemade sausage rolls by preheating the oven to 200°C.
  2. In a large mixing bowl mix together the Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco sauce, Thyme and sausage meat before seasoning with salt and pepper before mixing until the mixture is thoroughly combined.
  3. Roll out on a clean surface the puff pastry in a large rectangle before cutting into two long rectangles.
  4. With the now mixed meat mixture, layer the sausage meat on down the middle of each of the rectangles of pastry before taking the beaten egg and bushing down one edge.
  5. Fold the clean side of the pastry over onto the egg washed edge before pressing down to seal. Take the long pastry roll and cut into small rolls depending on how large you wish your sausage rolls. Score the top of each roll.
  6. Do the same with the remaining rectangle.
  7. With the now created sausage rolls, place them onto a baking tray before transferring into the oven to bake for 15-20 minutes or until they have turned golden brown and the meat is cooked.
