Ingredients
Doughnuts:
160g of plain flour
1 teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon of baking powder
1 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
120ml of milk
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
140g of butter
130g of caster sugar
2 eggs
Sugar coating:
50g of caster sugar
1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
Preparation method
Start by preheating the oven to 180°C. Taking your Dexam doughnut tin, preheat the tin.
In a saucepan over a medium heat, add the butter to the pan, stirring while it melts.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt. Make sure all the ingredients are thoroughly mixed. In a separate bowl, stir together the milk and vanilla extract.
In a third bowl, beat together the melted butter and caster sugar until it has turned smooth and creamy before beating the egg in.
Alternating between the flour and milk mixture, slowly add the two into the butter mixture to create a batter. Make sure to thoroughly mix the ingredients before adding more into the mix.
Pour or spoon the mixture either directly into the doughnut tray or into a pipping bag to pipe into the tray. Make sure that you only fill the tray 2/3 full.
Place into the preheated oven to bake for 10- 12 minutes. Use a skewer to test whether the doughnut has cooked all the way through.
Remove from the oven and place onto a cooling rack to cool before serving.
