Café Brulot

No matter how cold the weather gets this winter, remain warm with this hot coffee cocktail.

Cafe Brulot features a strong cup of coffee, infused with Cognac and orange liqueur to take away the chill.

  • 1 large cup of strong coffee
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 4 sugar cubes
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 57ml of Cognac
  • ½ peel of orange
  • 2 tablespoons of Grand Marnier or orange liqueur
  • ½ peel of lemon

Preparation method

  1. In a saucepan over a low heat, add the cinnamon, cloves, orange and lemon peels, along with the sugar.
  2. Stir in the cognac and liqueur.
  3. Taking the saucepan off the heat, with a long match lit the liquor.
  4. Wait until the flames have been extinguished before stirring in the coffee.
  5. Pour the mixture into 2 small punch cups or into a mug.
